So the NAACP's membership and treasury were down. They needed an emotional issue to generate funds and they chose the Confederate battle flag flying over the South Carolina statehouse dome. 

Knowing they could count on the support of other liberal groups, they returned the favor to their buddies on the left by scheduling the South Carolina tourism boycott during a Presidential election year that didn't look too good for the Democrats at the time.

Regarding the flag, they expected some haranguing in the legislature and a little from the public -- otherwise, it wouldn't be a good fundraising issue -- but they did not expect what actually happened.

And what happened?  RESISTANCE, big time.  First, spontaneous resistance.  Then, organized resistance.

They didn't foresee the formation of the South Carolina Heritage Coalition; didn't foresee 10,000 good Southrons from one end of Dixie to the other coming in to Columbia and carrying Confederate flags smack through the middle of downtown.  They didn't foresee the "No votes for turncoats" campaign after the flag came down.  The just didn't anticipate the rallies across the state and the South that have been happening ever since. 

It took them by surprise.  And it has enraged certain elements of the left that we're organizing, standing up, speaking out, rallying, demonstrating, protesting and fighting back.

So they have decided to teach us some lessons.

The attack on Maurice's barbecue sauce enterprise is more than an attack on his livelihood by big corporations. It's more than an attack on his Constitutional freedom of expression.

It is a warning.

They've made an example out of Maurice -- for the rest of us to learn from. They picked him because he's a big, visible target and because he symbolically jeered their flag victory in a very public way (by taking down the US flag and putting up the battle flag at his restaurants) -- and because he has a lot to lose.

The Socialist Pecunious Lawless Center's "Intelligence Report" is the same thing -- a warning. 

The League of the South was showcased in the report because they're the driving force behind the our movement and because the academics in the League have a lot to lose -- their tenure at various universities.  Plus, they're an affront to the status quo.  Academia is supposed  to be the exclusive domain of the left.

But the warnings are for us all. 

It is no longer just our symbols being attacked.  They've upped the ante, and now it's people in their crosshairs. The message to the rest of us is that we, and what we have, can be targeted, too. 

These attacks are designed to throw a chill on our movement and scare us into submission.  This is a very, very serious battle that not only must be fought, but must be won.
